We are the people who work hard, behind the scenes and on the front lines, to provide high quality service delivery in order to keep our community safe, healthy and moving smoothly.
We are public health inspectors, registered practical nurses, paramedics, transportation workers, dental hygienists, infectious disease control, substance abuse prevention workers, and so much more. Our work connects with every aspect of your life.
York Region is a unique community with unique needs. We welcome thousands of new Canadians, young families, empty nesters and young professionals each year. Whether you are a new mom, a senior needing help in managing your health, a new Canadian navigating an unfamiliar system, or you need help in an emergency, we always take care of you.
Our communities thrive when care, compassion, and specialized expertise are at the core of Public Health and community services. That’s what we deliver.
We proudly put you, the residents of York Region and our neighbours, first in all that we do!
The York Health Matters campaign recognizes the important contributions of all public sector workers as they continue to provide important services to the residents and businesses of York Region throughout the COVID-19 outbreak. We thank you for your incredible dedication and hard work at this time.
Now more than ever, it is clear that we need a strong and well funded public health system to help keep our community safe and healthy.
In 2019, prior to the COVID-19 outbreak, the Government of Ontario announced it intends to make changes, including a reduction in funding, to our province's public health system. Although we don't yet know what these changes will ultimately be, we do know that any reduction in funding will impact services which means they will impact you. No matter the circumstances, a strong public health system is critical to maintaining a safe and healthy population.
York Health Matters, and so does the health of all Ontarians and Canadians. The Provincial government must continue to recognize the critical role played by all public health workers and paramedics in preventing and controlling the spread of COVID-19, and ensure the services these workers provide are funded appropriately now and in the future.
